Whats here...
For the first 15 years of my career I was a technical specialist in optical fibre cable systems. These articles were originally written some years ago, but I will be updating them with some newer developments and technologies in the future. They are written as tutorials for those in the field of fibre optics, or those interested in learning about the field. The aim has been to create new content on the Internet rather than reproduce what was already available.

Just a quick note about myself. Currently employed as a IT & Special Projects Manager in a engineering consultancy business. Previously I was a consultant in the field of Telecommunications, Fibre Optics, and utility project management, and I still undertake some consulting engagements outside of my normal management duties, and have provided technical, training, and project management services to numerous clients. Prior to this I was a Technical Specialist in a large contractor and was responsible for supplying technical, training, quality assurance, safety and project management support on various optical fibre, telecommunications and HV Transmission line projects. This role included the investigation of new technologies and the development of work practices and standards in the optical fibre area.
